Starting Childcare atKin Kin Early Education
Starting childcare is an exciting time; however, it is common for children and adults to feel unsure about their new environment, routine, peers, and caregivers. To ensure your child has the best start at Kin Kin Early Education, we encourage families to bring children in for a centre tour, attend an orientation session, and plan for shorter days when your child first starts. Our team of experienced educators is here to support you and your child to have the best possible transition to care.
What to Expect
On your child’s first day, you will be greeted at the entry to the centre and shown how to sign in. Next you will be shown your child’s locker and introduced to your child’s Room Leader, who will support your child as they transition into the room.
You will receive updates about your child’s day through our family communication up and in person at pick-up time. Families are welcome to call anytime throughout the day to check-in.
What to Bring
We provide nutritious meals, nappies, wipes, bedsheets, and sunscreen. We kindly ask that families bring the below items each day. Please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your child’s full name.
- Two spare sets of clothes including socks
- Jacket for the colder weather
- Comforters such as a dummy
- Sun Smart Hat
- Drink Bottle
Seperation Anxiety
Separation anxiety is common in children, especially when it is their first time in childcare. Every child’s transition is different. What is most important is that your child settles after drop off and has a wonderful day full of learning and fun!
We encourage families to say goodbye at the door, give their child a kiss and hug, and reassure them that you will be back to collect them later. Our educators provide regular updates throughout the day; however, we encourage families to reach out at any time. Most children settle very quickly and are engaged in activities within moments of arriving!
Sun Safety
Kin Kin Early Education is a sun-safe childcare centre that protects children and educators from direct sun exposure.
We check the UV rating daily and kindly ask that families ensure their children wear sun-safe clothing, including a hat, long-sleeved shirt, pants or tights that cover most of their body, and covered shoes.
We also kindly ask that families apply sunscreen to their children upon or before arriving at the centre. Sunscreen can be located in the foyer.
